It is with great sadness that the family of Stanley Kenneth Ings announces his passing on Sunday June 17th, 2018. Stan was 87 years young. He was born February 8, 1931 In Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Doris Ellaline and Frank Percy Ings as well as his sister Vera Lucas and grandson Daniel Lucas Gould.
Stan was the loving father of Robin Christensen and husband Lynn, and sons Kenneth Ings and wife Manuela and Andrew Ings. He was the Grandfather of Jason Gould and wife April, Jacob Gould and wife Holly, Amy Wright and husband Clif, Dylan Ings and Stephanie Ings and Stephen Baldwin. He was the cherished Great-Grandfather of James Gould, Becca Gould, Juliette Baldwin, Daniel Christensen, Sarah Christensen, Samantha Gould, Laney Gould, Callie Wright and Catie Wright.
Stan came to the United States in December, 1956 from Canada, following his parents who moved to California in 1952. Part of his nationalization he had to agree to enlist in the draft and was drafted in the Army and sent to Korea from 1957 to 1959.
In August of 1960 Stanley married MaryLee Ings, although divorced in 1983 they have remained close friends.
He because a US citizen in December, 1962.
Stan had quite the carrier starting in the warehouse and later a salesman for his uncle at Golden West Plywood. He tried his hand as an Insurance Salesman but finally found his passion as a Grocery Clerk at Thrifty Mart, and later at Gelson’s in Tarzana. It was here that he made his lifelong friends, who he would carry with him throughout the remainder of his life. He enjoyed life and was loved by everyone who knew him.
Stan retired at 68 and enjoyed his time with his friends playing Poker on Tuesdays, going to Vegas and Laughlin. His Sunday dinners with family and grandchildren catching up on all their adventures.
Stan loved to travel with his family, he traveled through the Panama Canal with his sister Vera and brother in law Jay, and he traveled to the Yukon to visit his niece Jennifer Flynn and family with his son Kenneth and daughter in law Manuela. He traveled through the Inside passage of Alaska with his daughter Robin and son in law Lynn. For his 75th birthday he and his son Andy traveled to Hawaii to see the Pro Bowl. There are so many stories and memories from these adventures reminding us all how blessed we all were to have known this wonderful man.
He never forgot a birthday or an anniversary, he remembered everyone with his generous heart.
Stan was truly the life of the party, and his face and his smile were what you searched out in the room. His motto was “Life is Good” and he believed he had been blessed with the best life.
The Celebration of Life for Stan will be held on Saturday June 30th at the Oakwood Memorial Park @ the Chapel of the Oaks, 22601 Lassen St., Chatsworth, CA 91311 @ 1:00 PM
