Rose Marie Disney (née Montaño), of Northridge, CA passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by her
family on April 28, 2019. She was 91 years old.
Rose Marie is survived by her husband of 70 years, Verne, her children – Deborah Disney, Verne Disney, Daphne Capaldi (Ray), Celes Miller and Dennis Disney, her loving son's in law David Miller and Robert Shaver, 11 grandchildren – Rose, Gina, Amanda, Scot, Nicole, Eric, Michelle, Laura, Ryan,
Coadi, and Dennis Jr, her two great-grandchildren – Maya and Makena, and her sister Alvina Denman.
She is preceded in death by her siblings – Sarah, Nellie, Herky, Charles, and Selso.
Rose Marie was born on July 15, 1927 in Holbrook, Arizona to Laura Lucero and Selso Montaño. She
was the sixth of seven children. In 1942 she moved to Los Angeles, where she met her husband Verne
Disney. They met at a Malt shop in 1947, where Rose Marie was with a girlfriend. When Rose Marie saw
Verne in the Malt Shop, she told her friend, ‘I am going to marry that man’. They got married in 1949 and
were inseparable for 70 years.
In addition to her loving and devoted husband, Rose Marie’s life revolved around her family. She was
always so proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s accomplishments. Family was
her whole life. She was also a devout Roman Catholic, with her favorite Saint being St. Jude.
Rose Marie lived graciously and courageously for the two years that she fought Leukemia. She will be
remembered as a loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 in the morning on May 14th, 2019 at Crawford Mortuary in
Northridge, CA, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Rose Marie’s life. In
lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude’s Children Hospital in Rose Marie’s name.
