Philip Timothy Kent
August 17, 1956 – September 10, 2016
After over three and a half strong years, Phil lost his hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that people donate to Phil’s running team, Raging Health, at www.lacancerchallenge.com in support of pancreatic cancer research through the Hirshberg Foundation.
Phil was born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts to parents Richard and Betty Kent. He was the third of five children. He received his bachelors of science and masters degree in Computer Science from California State University Northridge. He worked in the aerospace industry for over 40 years.
Phil’s entire life was active. He was an avid runner with the LA Leggers, played countless hours of tennis with USTA, hiked all over Southern California, and could be seen most Sundays biking around the San Fernando Valley. Phil didn’t pay for anything that he could do himself, he always maintained a positive outlook on life, and he strived to inspire and lead in everything that he did.
Phil is survived by his wife Sharon, two sons, Ryan and Adam, grandson, Oliver, siblings Marsha Cantu, Rick Kent, David Kent, and Meredith McGowan, many cousins, brothers-in law, sisters-in law, nieces and nephews, and other extended family.
Services will be held at Saint John Eudes Church located at 9901 Mason Avenue, Chatsworth, CA 91311. There will be a rosary ceremony on Thursday, September 15 at 7 p.m. and a funeral mass on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 10:30 a.m.
