Maura Etelvina Portillo, a beloved homemaker and caregiver, passed away on May 28, 2024 in Palmdale. Born in Guatemala on July 11, 1947, she was a beacon of love and warmth to all whose lives she touched.
Maura found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially in cooking and hosting gatherings. Her home was a haven where family and friends were always welcome, and meals were made with love and care. She had a special talent for bringing people together, whether it was for a holiday feast or a birthday celebration.
Her proudest accomplishment was providing a home and nourishment to her family when they needed it most. Maura's generous spirit knew no bounds, and her legacy of kindness will live on through those she cared for.
She leaves behind her son Victor, daughter-in-law Vanessa, mother Marta, brother Daniel, sisters Blanca and Gladys, as well as her nieces and nephews who adored her: Baeza, Lord, and Marti. Erika, Michael, and Maya. Walde, Julia, and their Baby Boy Mejia. And Bryan. In the embrace of eternal love, Maura now joins her father Daniel and her dear friend Susan Meyerhoff in peaceful rest.
A funeral service to honor Maura's life will be held on June 7, 2024, at Crawford Lorenzen Mortuary in Los Angeles. The celebration of her life will begin at 1:00 PM and conclude at 5:00 PM.
