Dr. Lucious Levoy Hughes was born March 28, 1939, the second son of Lucious Lee Hughes and Esther A. Hughes Jones in Macon, Mississippi. In the fall of 1940, the family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where he attended a Catholic grade school for 8 years. He graduated, went to Hughes High School where he excelled in football and graduated in 1956..
Dr. Hughes moved to Los Angeles where he enrolled in junior college, majored in pre-pharmacy, worked at various jobs supporting himself and graduated in 1968.
Dr. Hughes was very Intelligent and ambitious and was accepted in the school of pharmacy at the University of California, San Francisco, and graduated with high honors with a Pharm.D. degree in 1972.
At the beginning of 1973, Dr. Hughes taught at Howard University, located in Washington.D.C.until he was hired at Kaiser Permanente where he worked as a pharmacist until retirement.
Dr. Hughes leaves to mourn 3 siblings: Geraldine M. Hughes Turner, Velma Louise Hughes, and James Edward Hughes witha host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Dyvetta A. Jones preceded him in death October 17, 2017.
