Lois Carolyn Baker Smith, 87, of West Hills, CA, was called to her eternal home, Monday, February 1, 2021 at Topanga Terrace Rehabilitation. Her family and friends are quite sure that she is already playing a heavenly piano for her Lord. Lois was born November 27, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Roy Elmer Baker and Mary Myrtle McDaniel Baker. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Elwood Quentin Smith as well as her youngest son, Rev. Dr. Mark Roy Smith. She was also preceded in death by her sister Naomi, sister Helen, and brother Alva.
She is survived by her son, George Gregory Smith, grandson Adam Smith, daughter-in-law Robin Smith and grandson Andrew Smith, wife Netetia (great-grandchildren Azairia, Noelani and Sage), granddaughter Alysa Lee, husband Brandon and granddaughter Lauren Smith, step-daughter Cindy Adams, granddaughter Jennifer Lindsley, husband Jamie, (great-grandchildren, Brianna, Matthew,
Jonathan, Hannah), grandson Bryan Porter, wife Eliza,( great-grandchildren, Abbagail, Serenity, and Tahlia). She also has 3 great-great-grandchildren. She has several special nieces and nephews that she continued to maintain contact with over the years, as well as many friends.
Lois worked as a legal assistant, gave private piano lessons, volunteered to teach music at her son’s elementary school as well as being a wife and mother. She truly enjoyed being a church pianist and organist. Music was truly the love of her life! After many years of faithful service as the church pianist and organist, she was honored to be named as Pianist Emeritus for the Chatsworth United Methodist Church.
She will be buried beside her beloved husband Dr. Elwood Quintin Smith (USN LT JG) at the Riverside, California National Cemetery on Monday, February 8, 2021.
