Lois Harris

In Loving Memory of Lois Edwina Harris
Lois Edwina Harris (née Williams)
February 28, 1949 -- November 23, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of Lois Edwina Harris announce her unexpected passing in her home in Northridge, California on November 23, 2022 at the age of 73 years.
Lois was born February 28, 1949 in Macon, Georgia, the first child of Dr. Joshua S. Williams, Jr. and Lois Gretchen Allen Williams. In 1956, Lois and her younger sister Theodora Richardson (née Williams) moved to Detroit, Michigan to live with their father and step mother Betty Williams. She was proud to have attended Spelman College, class of 1971, where she made lasting friendships and memories she would not hesitate to share with you throughout her life.
On May 17, 1973 Lois married Dr. Arthur D. Harris, Jr and on December 1, 1980 she gave birth to her favorite (only) child, Piper H (née Harris). Lois and her family and her best friend Deborah J. Lynch moved to Southern California in December of 1984, close enough to regularly see Theodora who had already moved to Los Angeles.
Lois was a loving mother, wife, sister, and friend. She was very involved in Piper's childhood schools, especially Sierra Canyon which was very important to her. After her separation from Arthur in 1996 and Piper's going to New York University in 1998, Lois had time to think about what was important to her, and she began to take her Christian faith more seriously. She became a member of the Sherman Oaks United Methodist Church on January 6, 2013 and loved Bible study and thinking about how to help others.
Lois was preceded in death by mother Lois Williams, father Joshua Williams, Jr., and best friend Deborah Lynch.
Lois is survived by daughter Piper H, sister Theodora (Aaron) Richardson, brothers Joshua S. Williams, III and Douglass K. (Monica) Williams, grandchildren Alexandre Harron and Julien Harron, step mother, Betty Williams, ex-husband and friend Arthur Harris, Jr., niece Jayla Williams, nephew Joshua Williams IV, and many cousins and friends.
