Lennie Ross Edmiston, September 13, 1947 - January 23, 2018
Lennie Ross Edmiston, born September 13, 1947 in the great state of Ohio, passed on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Providence Hospital in Mission Hills, CA. He was a beloved father to his son, Sean Edmiston, and daughter, Kristen Edmiston, and husband to wife, Ann Edmiston. He was the son of Ohio residents Charles Edmiston and Thelma Edmiston, and brother to Louie Edmiston. He was also very fond of his also Ohio resident cousins Lanny O’ Hail and Joe O’ Hail, nieces Valerie and Jennifer Edmiston, and nephew Tony Edmiston. He grew up in Ohio, attending his earlier years of school and college, and working with his father in construction, until eventually joining the military where he primarily served as a pharmacy technician. Being in the army eventually relocated him to Hawaii, where he, after his time serving was complete, lived for a number of years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle throughout the beautiful scenery, and would often adventure to discover the amazing views of the islands - consistently pausing in awe to admire the landscape. He also obtained the position as manager of a local movie theater, where he even got to experience the premier party of The Pink Panther movie. His experience as being a pharmacy technician lead to an opportunity to be relocated to California, where he shortly seized the opportunity for a position at UCLA. Working hard and moving his way up the workforce ladder, he eventually became a supervisor for the purchasing department, working under who would later become his father-in-law, after he later met and married his wife, Ann. He worked for UCLA for a number of dedicated years until the time of his retirement.
Lennie was interested in many things and possessed several talents. He was a wrestler and baseball player, loved to play guitar, and was a talented writer and photographer. He also loved cars and owned several of them throughout his lifetime. In addition, he very much enjoyed composing several projects with wood and using his tools to create perfectly finished wood frames and numerous updates he would create for his home. Music, reading and knowledge itself fascinated him and he could never get enough of it. He never felt that there was enough time for all of the knowledge from the world he wished he could consume, and there sure was a lot of it. He was an extremely hard working, strong-willed, independent, and intelligent individual, who even taught himself subjects such as calculus just because he was interested in learning it. His thirst for information never ceased.
His family and loved ones believed he was the best dad in the world, and was with and supported him all the way through until he floated away to his new forever home. Staying true to his nature, he did not give up so easily, and put up the hardest fight. He was the most selfless and responsible person, who was always concerned about the well being of others. He really was a jack-of-all-trades, and enjoyed all of the experiences that life has to offer, including baseball games, concerts, car shows, and of course watching old movies. He will be sorely missed by all, of course including his two cats and corgi (who he used to call his shadow since she would never leave his side wherever he went). He was the main foundation for his family and is a tremendous loss, but they know that he will always be with them in spirit and live on through their hearts, guiding them through the jungle of life. And now, he is able to be reunited with passed love ones. Being that he always enjoyed the simpler life, his spirit will now also get to reside in the peaceful country scenery where he always believed his soul belonged, high amongst the trees and flowing through the whimsical winds.
