Henry (Hank) Albert Springer of Chatsworth, California passed away Sunday April 2, 2017 at the age of 75. Hank was born September 15, 1941 in Detroit Michigan. His family moved to California in 1954 where he graduated from Canoga Park High School in 1959. Hank enlisted into the United States Navy in October 1959, and received an honorable discharge in 1965 with a rank of Machinist Mate 3rd Class. Shortly after serving in the Navy Hank started working for Leon Reed rebuilding transmissions. He worked his way up through the ranks at Leon’s Transmissions, ultimately purchasing the business from Leon and growing the business from one shop to nine. Hank was a very respected and revered businessman who treated his employees like family. While employed by Leon, he met Madeline LaFleur and they married in 1968. An instant family man, he raised her son and nephew as his own. Their marriage survived 45 years until her passing in 2013. Hank was very generous, giving to many charities throughout his life. He supported our veterans, animal rights, as well as local schools, The Murphy Auto Museum, and "Operation Gratitude". Since 2014, Hank has enjoyed the love and companionship of Toni Novogradac.
Hank is survived by his Sons, Dan Niel and Rick Tautkus, four Grandchildren, and fourteen Nieces and Nephews. He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret, Marilyn, and Helen. Services will be held at Oakwood Memorial Park and Cemetery, 22601 Lassen Street, Chatsworth, CA on April 12, 2 P.M.
