Emmett Lewin Dockens
Emmett “Lewin” Dockens was born on October 25, 1926 in San Bernardino, California to Melissa “Allie” Dockens and Moses Hugh Emmett Dockens. Lewin had two sisters, Odessa Martin and Aladeen Fife. Lewin was raised in the San Gabriel Valley and met Ruth Melba Mires at church and they married in 1946. Lewin and Ruth were married for 71 wonderful years. Ruth passed away in October, 2017.
The Dockens family moved to the San Fernando Valley in 1957 and raised their 2 children, Jerry Dockens, and Judy Thomas. He built his home of 60 years by himself. Lewin was an electrical contractor for 66 years and owned All-Safe Electric located in Canoga Park California. He was also a master woodworker. He was brilliant at wood working. You could see his skills in the home he built. He was president of the Rotary Club in Desert Hot Springs, California, an avid marksman and won many shotgun tournaments. He served in the US Army during World War II.
He is survived by 5 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
He was a devoted Christian and always put others before himself. He touched everyone he met with kindness and will be greatly missed.
The world has lost a great person, and he will always be remembered for his charm and wit.
