Beverly Tyrrell

Beverly Tyrrell, 57, of Northridge, California, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2020 at her home with friends and family by her side.
Beverly was born to Karen (Edwards) Conrad and H. Thomas Tyrrell in Pontiac, Michigan. She grew up the eldest of three with her two younger brothers, Tony and Randy. She attended North Branch area schools in Michigan where Beverly excelled in multiple sports and in the classroom. Once in high school, she did the same while also holding a job. After Beverly graduated high school, she attended Baker College where she earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration. One of Beverly’s favorite college classes was an anthropology class with which she traveled to Egypt. This began her life-long lust for exploration and adventure.
In furtherance of Beverly’s lust for adventure, in her twenties, Beverly packed up and moved across the country to Seattle, Washington open to whatever this move had in store. She began her career in the insurance industry there and made life-long friends. One of Beverly’s amazing strengths was nurturing relationships with friends and family. She was not one to lose touch with anyone and was always up to travel to be sure that those in her life knew she loved them. Beverly also continued her love for sports in Washington playing in a co-ed softball league.
The most important events that happened in Beverly’s life also happened in Washington as that is where each of her beloved children, Parker and Onalee were born.
Beverly’s openness to new beginnings and new opportunities brought her to southern California in 2003 and Northridge is where she lived and reared her children for the remainder of her life. Beverly was always involved in their school activities and shuttled them to extracurricular activities while she juggled fulltime employment. She served on the board of the PTA and the middle school booster club. She never missed a school performance, fundraiser, fieldtrip or class party if she was allowed to attend. Parker and Onalee were her biggest joys in life. Beverly wanted more than anything for Parker and Onalee to have every chance she could provide them to discover, explore, and fulfill their passions. While Parker and Onalee had Beverly wrapped around their fingers, they no doubt will always remember that Beverly encouraged them to work hard and wanted them to be responsible, caring and independent members of society. She instilled in them her love for family and friends, and commitment to being a contributing member of their community. She taught them by example that living right is an intentional act.
Beverly was always among the first to volunteer when she saw a need or heard a call as she saw doing so to be her duty as a citizen of the world. There are numerous instances that go unrecognized and even unknown, but she held esteemed positions. She was PTA treasurer and president of the middle school booster club. She volunteered with the Rotary Club of Granada Hills and served as the Treasurer of the Granada Hills Rotary Foundation. She volunteered her time to serve those less fortunate with Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and the YMCA as well as other organizations. She was also a Board Member on the Human Care Board and the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research.
Beverly’s brilliance and work ethic are shown by the progression of her career as she moved around the country, she rose through the ranks of the insurance industry. Notably in her career, she held multiple positions in the Underwriting Department of OUM & Associates/AIS of WA, Inc. She went from OUM to rise through the ranks at USI Insurance Services where she held the positions of Senior Project Manager, Regional Trainer, and Vice President. Beverly’s final professional title was Senior Director of Human Resources/Talent Acquisition at Patra Corporation. She joined Patra during the early days of its founding, and saw it rise from a small start up to the larger company it is now. While there she also held the positions of Senior Director of US Operations and Director of Client Services and Implementation.
Beverly left an indelible mark on all those who knew her. Beverly was not one to brag but we all knew she cherished Parker and Onalee and reveled in all of their accomplishments big and small. She beamed with love and pride when talking about Parker and the man he has become. While Onalee is not yet a woman, no daughter has been loved more than Beverly loved Onalee.
Beverly was loved by friends and family alike and is survived by her son, Parker (23); daughter, Onalee (17); brothers, Anthony (Tony) of Owosso, Michigan and Randy of Marietta, California; as well as her father, mother, and many cousins, aunts, and uncles and 5 cats. Beverly always loved animals, too.
The family plans to hold a celebration of Beverly’s life in Michigan during the summer of 2021.
