Andrew Korpita of Porter Ranch, California passed away peacefully in the evening of December 3rd 2022 at the age of 98. Andy was born in Green Point Brooklyn, NY in 1924. The son of Piotr Korpita and Anatasia Povlovski of Russia. Andy graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School, then proudly served his country during WWII from 1942-1946 in the Army as an MP while stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Moving to California in 1947 he was trained as a draftsman and master machinist working in the aerospace industry where his work included the US Space Shuttle program until his retirement in 1984. In Los Angeles Andy met his wife to be, Lois Palmer on a blind date and they married in 1954. Andy and Lois celebrated 51 beautiful years before Lois’s passing in 2005. Andy was a member of St Innocent Orthodox Church in Tarzana for many years. Loved following the Mets and the Dodgers and enjoyed watching football, golf, tennis and under guidance from his step-grandson, even soccer. Andy cherished spending time with his nieces and nephews and their families. Always a gentleman, always kind, always smiling and eternally happy, this is how Andy will be remembered by family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Piotr and Anastasia, his four brothers, George, Lawrence, John and Nicolas. He is survived by his daughter Andrea Korpita-Dowd, his much-loved son-in-law Matthew Dowd and step-grandchildren Alexandra and Christian.
