Obituary of Alvin L. Marsh

Alvin Lerun Marsh was born June 26, 1931 to loving parents Alberta Allison Marsh and B. Goree Marsh, Sr. of Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of four siblings¬¬¬all who preceded him in death; Almetris Marsh Duren of Los Angeles, CA, Bemas G. Marsh, Jr. of San Francisco, CA and Mattie Marsh White of Chicago, IL. Alvin was educated in the Muskogee Public School system and a 1948 graduate of Manual Training High School where he excelled as a student¬athlete in Varsity Track and Football. In 1949, he met the love of his life, Louise Lewis, at an AME Annual Conference in Muskogee, OK and would marry three years later to spend nearly 64 years of their lives together. To this union eight children were born: Trena (who preceded him in death in 1983), Vicki, Terence (Contis), Victor (Cheryl), Tyrone (Janette), Vincent, Triza and Vidal. Alvin was a proud veteran of U. S. Army, Michigan National Guard and the U. S. Air Force Reserves. He was also an esteemed member of UAW Local 600 and retired from Ford Motor Company after 32 years of service at the Dearborn Stamping Plant. Alvin L. Marsh was a huge baseball fan who enjoyed attending Tigers games and umpiring local baseball leagues throughout the Detroit metro area. Louise and Alvin retired to Las Vegas, Nevada in April 2000. In 2013 Alvin and Louise moved to Porter Ranch, CA to be cared for and loved by family. Alvin leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Louise, of 63 years; seven children, and grandchildren: Christine, Alvin (Krista), Christopher, Brian, Leah (Mical), Victor, II (Danielle), John, Rhonda and Tyrone, II; and, great¬grandchildren: Anastasia, Tremayne, Xavier Kingston (who preceded great¬grandfather in death in 2008), Neah, Nathaniel, Isaac Thomas (who preceded great¬grandfather in death in 2012) Gatlyn and Josephine; his nieces Anna Spell, Mimi Reggans, Nadine Waller and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and Godchildren. The Marsh family would like to acknowledge the 60 years of friendship between Alvin L. Marsh and Samuel S. Donahoo, Sr. and the Donahoo Family who served as Alvin’s confidant, best friend and Uncle/God Parent to Alvin and Louise’s eight children. Special acknowledgement to Louise’s Home of Love Family, Christi Jackson and God Children Denise Griffin, Rhapsody Armstrong and Barbara Clark for continued love and support.
